THE IDENTITY OF OUR WORSHIP
“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." - John 4:23-24
•
In Spirit – sincerely, from the heart
•
In Truth – according to God’s word, standard, and authority
"Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” – John 17:17
The reality of true worship is determined and identified only by the word of God.
It is our intent to collectively and individually engage in genuine reverence and honor toward God by joyfully glorifying the Father and His dear Son, Christ Jesus, in the unity and power of the Spirit.
So here’s what you can expect:
The Lord’s Supper
“Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?” – I Corinthians 10:16
Before Christ was crucified, he introduced a new memorial feast to His Disciples that would consist of two entities:
The Bread
The eating of this bread is to remind us of Christ’s body which He freely gave for us. It is in this, that we commemorate Christ’s sacrificial death.
The Cup (Fruit of the Vine)
Sharing in the fruit of the vine, we reflect on Christ’s ultimate sacrifice; the blood which was poured out for all for the forgiveness of sins.
In the New Testament, we find that the early church observed the Lord’s Supper “on the first day of the week” (Acts 20:7). This is the biblical pattern provided for us to follow. Therefore, we fellowship together and observe communion each Sunday, the first day of the week.
GIVING
The early church took up collections from the members on the first day of the week. Each member gave generously according to what they had prospered. The church never used tithing (requiring 10%), nor man-made fund-raising methods such as raffles or bingo.
“Now about the collection for God's people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.” – 1 Cor. 16:1-2
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” – 2 Cor. 9:6-7
A CAPELLA SINGING
“Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name.” - Hebrews 13:15
“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord” – Eph. 5:19
“Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” – Colossians 3:16
“What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also.” - 1 Cor. 14:15
PRAYER
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” – Luke 18:1
“Pray without ceasing.” – 1 Thess. 5:17
“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” – Eph. 6:18
Preaching of God’s Word
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” – Rom. 10:17
“How then will they call on Him (Christ) in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” – Rom. 10:14
