BRO. LEONARDO DEMETRIUS GILBERT lives by the motto: "Saved to
Serve." And serving in the vineyard of the Lord is what he strives
do to on a daily basis. Currently, he serves as the MINISTER of the
Sheldon Heights Church of Christ on the south side of the city of Chicago.
At an early age, Leonardo began working for the Lord. After completing
an Associates degree from Michigan Christian College (now Rochester
College) and a Baccalaureate degree from Harding University where he
majored in both Bible and Biology, he returned home. Since that time,
he has worked in various facets at the Sheldon Heights congregation.
For several years he served as the YOUTH MINISTER. He worked diligently
to know the youth under his guidance personally and spiritually.
Following his service as the Youth Minister, he served as the EDUCATIONAL
DIRECTOR. In this capacity, he implemented many programs and events,
which continue to operate, including the Midwest Teachers' Workshop
(MTW). Bro. Gilbert enjoys studying God's word and sharing it with others
through his teaching and preaching.
Following his service as the Educational Director, he assumed the role
of the MINISTER OF EVANGELISM. In this capacity, he worked on helping
members become more aware of their evangelistic responsibility as members
of the Lord's church. Even today, as the MINISTER of the Sheldon Heights
Church of Christ, evangelism is the focus of almost everything he does.
Currently, Leonardo is working to compile a book of sermons and lessons
on EVANGELISM. His goal is to save as many souls as he can and to help
others save as many souls as they can before the Lord returns.
Leonardo D. Gilbert loves the Lord and says,
"I know no matter what I do, I can never be worthy of the Lord's
love, grace, or mercy, but I am living each day of my life trying to
do everything in my power to make my Father proud that I am His son."
Leonardo D. Gilbert has been married for 21 years to Brenda LaJoyce.
God blessed them with one son, Leon Demetrius Gilbert.
